Magneto, My First Love

(To the tune of 'Leader of the Pack',
written by Ellie Greenwich, Jeff Barry, and George Morto,
first performed by The Shangri-Las )

Storm: Is she really going out with him?
Psylocke: Well, there she is. Let's ask her.
Storm: Rogue, is that Magneto's ring you're wearing?
Rogue: Mm-hmm
Jubilee: Gee, it must be great flying with him
Psylocke: Is he picking you up after school today?
Rogue: Uh-uh
Jubilee: By the way, where'd you meet him?

[Rogue sings, the others help her along:]

Ah met him in the Savage Land
He flew to me and saved mah life
Ya get the picture? (yes, we see)
That's when I fell for Magneto my first love!

The Prof, he always gave me this sermon (ser-mon!)
He said his kind was some species of vermin
(whatcha mean when ya say that his kind was some species of vermin?)
They told me he was bad
But ah knew he was sad
That's why ah fell for Magneto my first love!

One day ol' Chuck said, "Find someone new"
Ah had to tell my Magnus we're through
(whatcha mean when ya say that ya better go find somebody new?)
He stood there and asked me why
But all ah could do was cry
Ah'm sorry ah hurt you, Magneto my first love!

[Rogue speaks:]

He sorta smiled an' kissed me goodbye
The tears were beginning to show
As he flew away on that rainy night
Ah begged him t' stay clean
But whether he heard, ah'll never know

Look out! Look out! Not the mind-wipe!

[Rogue sings again:]

Ah felt so helpless, what could ah do?
Rememberin' all the things we'd been through
In school they all stop and stare
Ah can't hide the tears, but ah don't care
Ah'll never forget him, Magneto mah true love!

Magneto was mah man - now he's gone
Magneto was mah man - now he's gone
Magneto was mah man - now he's gone
Magneto was mah man - now he's gone
[fade]

Thanks to my good MZS buddy Heather Ferreira who inspired me to write this during an enjoyable weekend together on both sides of the Dutch-German border.
